A Glasgow resident has pleaded not guilt to the charges of assault and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash.

Nineteen-year-old Barry Sexton entered into a not-guilty plea in Barren County Circuit Court after he was indicted by a grand jury in September on charges of second-degree assault and leaving the scene without rendering reasonable aid to his passenger. His next pretrial conference is scheduled for Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.

Sexton was arrested on Sept. 28 by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office when he was spotted walking along Scottsville Road. On the day before Sexton crashed his vehicle on Matthews Mill Road, which resulted in his passenger being extracted from the vehicle, taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital and later flown to Skyline Medical Center in Tennessee due to her injuries.

He is lodged in the Barren County Detention Center with a $10,000 cash bond.
