The Barren County Fiscal Court Magistrates are set to meet tomorrow, Oct. 21, to discuss the special-purpose-vehicle ordinance and pay several invoices.
An ordinance making special-purpose legal on Barren County roads was first discussed by the magistrates at the Oct. 3 special-called fiscal court meeting. The first reading of the ordinance passed unanimously.
Though special vehicles, like ATVs or minitrucks, were able to be registered in county clerk’s offices throughout Kentucky thanks to Kentucky Senate Bill 63, each municipality needs to pass an ordinance making them drivable on that municipality’s roads. So far only Park City has weighed in to special vehicles, though Cave City moved to have its city attorney draft such an ordinance at its Oct. 13 meeting.
There is also numerous invoice up for approval and payment during the fiscal court meeting. Several are from Scotty’s Contracting and Stone for work on various county roadways. Deco Architects has a $54,240 invoice on the Oct. 21 agenda for architectural designs on the Park City Amphitheater. The contract was approved by the fiscal court magistrates on March 18. This $52,240 payment is the initial amount due, according to the original contract.
