The case arguing a substitute teacher used electronic means to communicate with a minor to allegedly arrange sex is headed to a Barren County grand jury for its possible indictment.
Thirty-year-old Krystal Sims, of Cave City, was arrested earlier this month by a Barren County Sheriff’s deputy on a charge of unlawfully using electronic communication to solicit, procure, or promote a child for sexual activity or other prohibited acts. Deputy Adam Bow said he received information that Sims had communicated with a male juvenile for the purpose of meeting to have sex, according to the uniform citation.
Sims said she did not meet the juvenile and nothing physical happened between them, according to the initial report.
Her court records shown probable cause was found in the case for district judge Gabe Pendleton to forward it to a grand jury.
Sims also paid her $10,000 cash bond, according to her court records, with the conditions that she have no contact with minors, including the alleged victim, doesn’t use Snapchat, makes all scheduled court appearances, doesn’t violate any laws and doesn’t use illegal controlled substances or drink alcohol.
Also, Casandra L. Rosa-Burgos, a self-identified employee of the Kentucky Department of Education, requested Sims’ court case, which was mailed on Oct. 21, according to her case file.
