Glasgow High grad receives prestigious diploma

Mary Kate Vance, a recent graduate from Glasgow High School, is being recognized for earning the AP Capstone Diploma, a designation from College Board’s Advanced Placement program that gives high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses.

To receive this diploma, Vance scored a 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research and four additional AP exams, according to a College Board press release.

“We proudly recognize the achievements of students who participated in the AP Capstone Diploma program,” Glasgow High School Principal Joey Norman stated in the press release. “With the help of dedicated teachers, our AP Capstone students explored their passions through scholarly research in an impactful, multi-year program.

“This meaningful college readiness program will serve our students well after high school.”

The AP Capstone Diploma program “helps students develop critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation skills that are essential to academic and career success,” according to the press release.

During last school year, more than 160,000 students in over 3,500 schools participated in the AP Capstone program worldwide. Of these students, approximately 27,650 earned the AP Capstone Diploma.
