Henry Royse intends to file to run for another term as Glasgow City Mayor in the upcoming election.
“I have the paperwork and I intend to file the first day [Nov. 5] we can at the clerk’s office,” Royse said.
He said he’s running for another four-year term to finish the work that has begun under his administration.
“It’s been several years since we’ve had a two-term mayor,” Royse said. “A lot of the things that we have to get accomplished around here take more than four years. I have gotten a good start [in] the first three years trying to get it where people are looking at us more for expansion from an industrial standpoint, for the interest in housing…. I really want to run for a second term to finish off what we’ve got started in the first [term] because it takes a while to get started.”
In 2022, Royse received 2,785 votes and won the Glasgow mayoral race against W. Keith Rowlett with 81.78 percent of the vote, according to the 2022 results from the county clerk’s office.
As of this publication, no one has announced their intention to run against Royse.
Until Nov. 5, Glasgow News 1 will only report on the reelection intentions of incumbent executives, the county sheriff and jailer.
