Seven Barren County students earned their Advanced Placement Capstone Diplomas during the 2024-25 academic year.
“We are incredibly proud of our students who have achieved this level of academic excellence,” said Barren County High School Principal Letitia Hughes. “The AP Capstone program challenges students to think deeply, ask meaningful questions, and communicate their ideas with confidence. Their hard work reflects the dedication of our teachers and the culture of high expectations we strive for every day at BCHS.”
To earn the AP Capstone Diploma, students must score 3 or higher in both AP Seminar and AP Research, as well as on four additional AP Exams of their choice. The AP Capstone program helps students develop the critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation skills essential for success in college and careers.
The seven students from Barren County Schools are:
Class of 2026 (current seniors):
- Kathrynn A. Dooley
- Olivia C. Jolly
Class of 2025 graduates:
- Sophia B. Evans
- Katie B. Gearlds
- Arin E. Simpson
- Emma K. Smith
- Jackson L. Smith
“The AP Capstone program reignites curiosity in the classroom,” shared Bianca Peart, global director of the AP Capstone Diploma program. “Students are not only building essential skills for college and career success but also discovering how their voices and ideas can make an impact.”
During last school year, more than 160,000 students in over 3,500 schools participated in the AP Capstone program worldwide. Of these students, approximately 27,650 earned the AP Capstone Diploma.
