Barren County tax bills will be coming soon as the sheriff’s office announced they’ll start property tax collection on Nov. 1.
Bills can be paid at the sheriff’s office in the Barren County Government Center — either in person or through a drop-box in the front of the building — by mail, or through the office’s website. People will receive a 2 percent discount on their bills if they pay them before Nov. 30, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Speaking to the Barren County Fiscal Court Magistrates, Sheriff Kent Keen reminded everyone that tax bills will, again, not be the yellow card, but rather a full white sheet of paper bearing the sheriff’s office logo.
“Most people should receive [their tax bill]…and they’ll be in letter form, no more yellow cards,” Keen said at the court meeting. “November is the discount month [and] December is the face value month.”
If a person does not receive their bill in the mail, they can obtain a copy on the sheriff’s website.
Recently, the fiscal court magistrates acknowledged the tax rates of other districts; tax rates are applied to $100 of assessed value.
