Juvenile dies after Barren County crash Involving deer

A juvenile has died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle collision earlier this month in Barren County, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Around 5 p.m. March 6 state police responded to an injury crash at the bridge leading into Allen County, according to a police press release.

A black 2013 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling south on Scottsville Road when a deer entered the roadway. Investigators say the Equinox, driven by 37-year-old Jamie Morgan of Scottsville, crossed the center line and collided with a black 2022 Chevrolet Blazer, which was driven by 35-year-old John Furlong of Glasgow, according to the preliminary investigation.

Thomas Basil, a juvenile passenger in Morgan’s vehicle, was seriously injured in the crash and was taken for treatment to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The juvenile succumbed to his injuries on March 17.

The crash remains under investigation by state police.
