A new Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College health campus is coming to Barren County.

The college officially purchased the 42-acres property on the Veterans Outer Loop, near Donnelley Drive and Bob Lewis Road from Richard Stahl for roughly $2.3 million on March 13, according to deed transfers recorded in the Barren County Clerk’s Office. A “Future Home of the Glasgow Health Campus” banner is currently displayed on the site, according to a college press release.

The site was selected out of “nearly a dozen parcels within Barren County,” the release stated.

“Ultimately, we chose to locate our new campus on a ‘blank slate,’ so we could set the tone for the development around us,” said Michelle Trawick. Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College president and chief executive officer. “We will build a state-of-the-art health care education facility. We will also offer general education and business classes in the facility. Our aim is to elevate SKYCTC, Barren County, and our 10-county region by creating a campus that rivals the best higher education facilities.”

“The Commonwealth is facing a significant nursing shortage, and this new facility will allow us to strengthen and expand our top-ranked nursing program. We are committed to serving more students and providing better service, and this new campus will help us achieve that,” she added.

The new facility will help the college expand its health care training programs, according to Angie Harlan, dean of nursing.

A groundbreaking celebration at the future campus site will be held on April 30, 2026. Additional details on the planning and timeline for the new Glasgow Health Campus will be shared as the project progresses.

In 2025, the Kentucky General Assembly passed Joint Resolution 34, which authorized the release of $90 million appropriated in 2024 Regular Session for capital construction projects for Kentucky Community and Technical College System. Southcentral Community and Technical College was given $28 million as part of that total.

The current Glasgow Health Campus is located on State Avenue and “is no longer suitable for providing the modern education and training required to meet the Commonwealth’s growing workforce needs,” the release stated.
