The new Barren County Judicial Center in Glasgow remains on schedule for completion in 2028, according to updates from the Project Development Board.
During the board’s April 29 meeting, members heard that construction is progressing smoothly and that recent change orders, as well as predicted ones, are not expected to push back the timeline as of right now.
The exterior concrete footings are about 85 percent complete, while interior footings stand at roughly 80 percent. Much of the work to this point has been underground, but board members were told that visible vertical construction is about to begin.
Several change orders are being processed or evaluated. Those include added termite control, a deduction related to door hardware cores being supplied by the owner, and potential credits tied to removing unused gun lockers and adjusting fencing and gate plans requested late in the design phase.
Most of the changes appear to reduce costs and do not involve additional construction time. As a result, they said the overall schedule remains intact. After clarifying earlier notes, a representative said the current substantial completion date under the contract is April 17, 2028. That timeline could change if future change orders affect the schedule, but board members were told that no such impacts are anticipated at this time, according to Alliance Corporation executive vice president and chief operation officer Tim Geegan.
