The Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Management Service board members recently approved a new ambulance station in Haywood.
Executive director Joe Middleton said the timetable for the station to be operational is tight.
The groundbreaking will be Tuesday, May 12 at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
The station will be at the corner of Matthews Mill Road and U.S. 31-E south of Glasgow in the Haywood community.
Middleton said the location was chosen strategically.
Collins Custom Homes was the lowest of the three submitted construction bids at $579,275.
Barren County Emergency Management Director Garland Gilliam said in a previous interview the new station will decrease response times while also locating the emergency-response vehicles in a good place.
Middleton also explained the primary area a new ambulance at the station will cover.
