Incumbents who were running in primaries Tuesday swept the Barren County magistrates races, unofficially.

In the District 2 Republican Primary, Derek Pedigo defeated challenger Brandon Bell with 70 percent of the votes cast. Pedigo does not face a Democratic challenger in the November general election.

In the District 3 Republican Primary, Tim Durham defeated Daniel Turner with 73 percent of the votes cast in that race. Durham will also not be opposed in November.

Tim Coomer held off Trevor Phillips in the District 4 Republican Primary. Coomer, the incumbent, gained 54 percent of the votes cast, while Phillips had 45 percent. Thomas Branham ran a distant third with 5 percent.

Coomer will have a November competitor. Robert Honeycutt has registered to run as a Democrat.

In District 5, incumbent Marty Kinslow also won a three-way Republican Primary. He captured 54 percent of the votes cast in that race, while Greg Gassaway claimed 24 percent and Steven Gil Hernandez had 21 percent. Kinslow does not face a November opponent.

Incumbent Brad Groce won the District 7 Republican Primary with 73 percent of the votes cast in his favor, while challenger Michael Haynes had 27 percent of the vote. Groce also does not face a November opponent.

The one magistrate race that did not have a primary will have a general election contest. District 6 Incumbent Ronnie Stinson is the Democratic Party candidate. He will face Republican Steve Gibson in November.

In District 1, incumbent Jeff Botts did not run for reelection. That set a Republican Primary between two people seeking office for the first time — Mark Shipley and Brandin Bartley. Shipley won with 79 percent of the votes cast. He will not face a November challenger.
