Save A Lot shoppers in Glasgow will see a new look and a new location starting today, as the grocery store moves from South Green Street to a larger site on East Main Street.

Houchens Food Group, which operates the store, said the Save A Lot officially reopens at 742 E. Main Street with today’s grand opening.

“We are incredibly proud to serve our hometown of Glasgow, Kentucky,” said Greg Rush, President of Houchens Food Group. “The relocation of this Save A Lot reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in our stores, our customers, and the communities we call home. By providing this store with a new, modern location, we are improving access to a full-service grocery store for residents of eastern Barren County.”

The new Save A Lot adds about 2,000 square feet of retail space compared with the South Green Street store, according to a press release from Houchens. The expanded footprint allows for several upgraded departments and new offerings.

The East Main Street location will feature fresh-cut meats, a full-service produce department and an assortment of baked goods, according to the company. The store will also dedicate an entire aisle to Hispanic food items, which is aimed at providing more variety and meeting the needs of local shoppers, according to the press release. The enhancements are designed to give customers greater convenience and a broader selection of fresh, affordable groceries.

Beyond the upgraded shopping experience, the move will create more than 20 job opportunities at the new Save A Lot, the press release stated.

The company notes the store remains the last full-service grocery for approximately 27 miles when traveling east toward Metcalfe and Monroe counties. That makes the Glasgow location an important resource for people who rely on it as a one-stop destination for groceries.

Community members are invited to attend the Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting Celebration at 2 p.m. on June 3 at the new East Main Street store.
