Glasgow Independent Schools Superintendent Chad Muhlenkamp received an “exemplary” rating from school board members during their regular monthly meeting on Monday night.
Board members met in closed session for around 30 minutes to discuss the district’s leader. When they returned to open session, they presented their summative evaluation of the superintendent.
“Overall, Dr. Muhlenkamp’s score on this evaluation is ‘exemplary,’” Board Chair Mary Burchett-Bower said. “The board is pleased with Dr. Muhlenkamp’s vision for the Glasgow Independent school district and looks forward to continued progress.”
The board focused on two standards in their evaluation — Cultural Leadership and Managerial Leadership. The superintendent received “accomplished” and “exemplary” ratings for those two categories, respectively.
“The superintendent officially promotes a positive district culture, centered on academic excellence, high expectations and continuous improvement,” Burchett-Bower said as she read from their evaluation. “He develops a clear understanding of the district’s tradition and values, while fostering an environment where students and staff are encouraged to succeed.
“Strategic personnel decisions are positively impacting the district.”
The board chair said Muhlenkamp’s “visibility, commitment to excellence and efforts to build a collaborative learning community contribute to a positive momentum across the district and reflect consistent performance.”
Muhlenkamp demonstrates managerial leadership “through a strong understanding of district operations, finance, policy and long-term strategic planning,” Burchett-Bower said.
“The superintendent is always well informed and up to date on legislative developments, regulatory requirements and emerging trends at the state and local levels that may impact the district,” she said. “The superintendent approaches financial stewardship with a long-term perspective, ensuring resources are not only committed, are invested thoughtfully and strategically.
“Recommendations regarding expenditures are made with the goal of creating the greatest positive impact for programs, students and employees, while maintaining fiscal responsibility and sustainability.”
