The Cave City Council will convene for a special called meeting Wednesday evening, with final approval of the city’s amended current-year budget and upcoming fiscal year budget headlining the agenda alongside another closed session related to pending litigation.

Before the meeting begins, council members will hold a public hearing at 4:45 p.m. regarding Road Aid Funds and Local Government Economic Assistance Funds. The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Cave City Hall.

Under unfinished business, the council is slated to hold the second reading of an ordinance amending the city’s 2025-26 budget as well as the second reading of the proposed 2026-27 budget. Passage of the second readings would formally adopt both financial measures.

The agenda also includes a statement from city attorney Bobby Richardson before council members enter closed session pursuant to Kentucky Revised Statute 61.810, which permits discussions involving proposed or pending litigation against or on behalf of a public agency.

While the agenda does not specify the matter to be discussed, the closed session follows recent legal developments involving the city’s temporary moratorium on data center development. A lawsuit filed earlier this month alleges the city’s actions interfered with an agreement involving a proposed data center project near Cave City.

Any action resulting from the closed session would be required to take place in open session following the council’s return.
