A Glasgow man has been indicted after a bomb threat in March led to an evacuation and a large law enforcement response at the Barren County Courthouse, according to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office. Officials say 47-year-old Lee Wesley Elmore, of Glasgow, is accused of calling in a bomb threat to the courthouse around 10 a.m. on March 30, 2026, prompting court personnel to report the call and clear the building as a precaution. Deputies, bailiffs and officers from the Glasgow Police Department searched the courthouse from top to bottom, including all floors and the roof.

According to the sheriff’s office, no hazards were found during that sweep, and no injuries were reported. Investigators say the suspect placed multiple calls to courthouse offices while concealing the phone number, and detectives later identified Elmore as being connected to those calls. Authorities report Elmore was already scheduled for a court appearance at the courthouse later that morning, and that after the evacuation he contacted court personnel and identified himself using the same phone number that had been used to call in the bomb threat. Law enforcement officers say they found Elmore at a residence in Glasgow.

According to the sheriff’s office, he denied making the threat and then attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended a short distance away without further incident and taken into custody. Elmore has been indicted on charges of first-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree fleeing or evading police in connection with the incident. The Barren County Sheriff’s Office reports it was assisted during the courthouse response by the Glasgow Police Department, Glasgow Fire Department, Barren County Emergency Management and Barren-Metcalfe EMS.
