A Glasgow man who was indicted last month for threatening to bomb the Barren County Courthouse was arraigned Tuesday in Hardin County Circuit Court.
Lee Wesley Elmore, 47, was indicted last month in Barren County for first-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree fleeing or evading police. Elmore was arrested on March 30 by Barren County sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly called a threat to the Barren County Courthouse in Glasgow around 10 a.m., which led to an evacuation.
He had a court appearance scheduled for later that day, and called to inquire about the disruption, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office press release at the time.
During an April 2 appearance in Barren District Court on the bomb threat-related charges, Elmore waived the case to a Barren County grand jury for its possible indictment, according to court records.
After his indictment by a Barren County Grand Jury on June 17, there was an order placed to appoint a special judge for the case “due to the [Barren County] Judge and/or his staff likely being utilized as witnesses in the proceedings.”
The case has been assigned to Larry Ashlock, the Circuit Court Judge for the 9th Judicial Circuit.
At his arraignment Tuesday, Elmore entered into a not guilty plea. He has a pretrial conference set for Aug. 18 at 9 a.m. central time.
