The Barren River Drug Task Force seized suspected illegal cannabis products and paraphernalia during a search of a Bon Ayr business and residence on Wednesday, July 22.
Detectives executed a search warrant at the Hall Connection business and home on Bon Ayr Road in Barren County, with assistance from inspectors with the Department of Public Health’s Drug and Safety Branch, according to a task force press release.
They seized multiple alleged hemp-derived products from the business, along with more than 8 ounces of cannabis flower material suspected to be marijuana and pre-rolled cannabis cigarettes, the release stated. Several items of drug paraphernalia, a digital scale and cash were also seized at the scene.
Dana Steadman, 55, who the task force said owns the business, did not have a license to sell the alleged hemp-derived products that were found in the business.
Evidence recovered at Hall Connection indicated Steadman was selling the products from a storefront, the release stated, re-packaging inventory bought out of state to make her own products for resale and selling seeds containing suspected THC. Some items being sold openly displayed THC levels in numeric form that exceeded the 0.3% delta-9 THC concentration threshold.
Steadman was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana greater than 8 ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center after the arrest.
The drug task force stated it was assisted in the investigation by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services for Public Health, Drug and Supplement Branch, Glasgow Police Department, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
According to the task force, additional charges may be presented to a grand jury as the case moves forward.
Steadman remained in jail Thursday morning with a $5,000 cash bond, according to the jail website. She had an initial court appearance scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23.
