The Glasgow City Council is set to hold its second meeting of July on tonight at 6 p.m. in Glasgow, Kentucky.
According to the agenda, council members plan to swear in new police officer Rebecca Parsons to the Glasgow Police Department.
The meeting will also feature a second reading of Ordinance 2026, which would rezone property at 801 Columbia Avenue. The approximately 2.4-acre parcel is proposed to change from R-1, a low density residential district, to B-2, a general business district classification.
Council members are scheduled to go into closed session under Kentucky Revised Statute 61.810(1)(c).
According to the agenda, that session is for discussion of proposed or pending litigation on behalf of the city.
Under new business, the council is expected to consider several municipal orders involving board appointments.
Those include reappointing Joan Norris and Bill Anderson to the Code Enforcement Board.
Another order would reappoint Amy Irwin to the Glasgow Municipal Airport Board.
For notification purposes, the council has also been advised of Executive Order 2026-267. That order updates the Glasgow Police Department’s Standard Operating Procedures Policy 17.18, which deals with pediatric ingestion or inhalation of a controlled substance.
The agenda also highlights upcoming community events as part of Entertain Glasgow’s big weekend celebrating America’s 250th. According to city announcements, the Green River Band is scheduled to perform Friday, July 31, on the Glasgow square.
Country artist Darryl Worley, with Colton Kise, is set to perform Aug. 1 at Beaver Trail Park, and officials say there will be free kids’ activities throughout the weekend. The celebration is expected to close with a drone show finale.
