Barren River Animal Welfare Association board member Molly Taylor said the 16th annual Shake Your Paw Ball raised just under $30,000 while celebrating a major milestone for the nonprofit.

The event, held Saturday, July 25 at the Cave City Convention Center, also marked BRAWA’s 30th anniversary.

Organizers described the Shake Your Paw Ball as an evening gathering that brings supporters together to raise money for BRAWA’s animal welfare work.

They said the fundraiser is designed to blend entertainment and philanthropy in a way that keeps the community engaged year after year. Live music was part of the celebration, helping set a festive tone for the night.

A silent auction was another key piece of the evening’s lineup. Organizers said the auction began at 6 p.m., when the bar opened and guests could start the evening with cocktails while browsing items and placing bids.

Attendees were able to walk around the venue, look over auction offerings and submit bids during the Shake Your Paw Ball.

They added that this year’s total of just under $30,000 represents important support for BRAWA’s mission.

The funds are expected to help the organization continue its animal welfare efforts in the Barren River region.
