Work continues this week on multiple road projects in Barren County.

Work on U.S. 31-E between J. Carter Road and the Louie B. Nunn Expressway is expected to begin this week. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 stated last week that the project would begin soon, depending on weather.

“Motorists should expect daytime lane closures from near J. Carter Road (mile point 8) to near the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway (mile point 12),” the transportation cabinet stated. “Crews will complete drainage improvements at several locations along this section of roadway. A new turn lane will be added on U.S. 31-E at Windy Hills Road. Minor roadway widening also will be completed throughout the corridor. The widening will create a 4-foot centerline buffer between opposing travel lanes.”

Also work will continued on Ky. 90 between Glasgow and Cave City. Closer to Cave City, motorists should expect nighttime lane closures from mile point 0.4 to 1.4.

“Crews will be resurfacing the roadway in this section. The paving is expected to be completed sometime next week,” the transportation cabinet stated.

Meanwhile, the full rework of Ky. 90 from Veterans Outer Loop in Glasgow to Sanders Street continues each day.

“The project adds alternating passing lanes and new turn lanes at different points along the corridor. Drainage improvement work, guardrail work, shoulder improvements, passing lane extensions and vegetation trimming are also included in spots along the route,” the cabinet stated. “The project is expected to be completed later this year.”
