The Barren County Conservation District’s annual tree giveaway is Saturday in celebration of Earth Day, which is also Saturday, and Arbor Day, which is the following Friday.
Pecan, pine, poplar, dogwood and pawpaw are the types included in this year’s distribution, plus a wildflower seed mix to encourage pollinators is available.
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Barren County Extension Service, 1463 W. Main St., Glasgow.
Barren County High School agriculture students have been helping to get the saplings separated and bagged to make the distribution go more smoothly, according to posts on a district social media account.
