Glasgow News 1
As drivers and buses delivered children to Barren County Schools on Wednesday, significant roadwork continued on two major arteries into Glasgow.
Work on U.S. 31-E between J. Carter Road and the Louie B. Nunn Expressway is underway, and at times the road will be down to one lane of traffic.
“Motorists should expect daytime lane closures from near J. Carter Road (mile point 8) to near the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway (mile point 12),” Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 stated in its traffic impact report. “Crews will complete drainage improvements at several locations along this section of roadway. A new turn lane will be added on U.S. 31-E at Windy Hills Road. Minor roadway widening also will be completed throughout the corridor. The widening will create a 4-foot centerline buffer between opposing travel lanes.”
Work also continues on Ky. 90 from Veterans Outer Loop in Glasgow to Sanders Street in Cave City.
“The project adds alternating passing lanes and new turn lanes at different points along the corridor. Drainage improvement work, guardrail work, shoulder improvements, passing lane extensions and vegetation trimming are also included in spots along the route,” the cabinet stated. “The project is expected to be completed later this year.”
