The man accused of killing Ava Woodcock and her unborn child in April appeared in court Monday for a pretrial conference.
Brandon L. Bond, 24, appeared by video from the Barren County Detention Center as attorneys discussed outstanding issues in the case. He remains in jail on a $2 million cash bond.
Bond was indicted in May on charges of murder (domestic violence), first-degree fetal homicide and first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot. He allegedly shot Woodcock on April 6 while she was inside her vehicle at a restaurant off Cleveland Avenue. She was pregnant with a daughter, Nevah, at the time of the shooting.
Commonwealth’s Attorney John Gardner told the court Monday that prosecutors had provided Bond’s defense with discovery in the case but that two issues remained to be addressed.
Bond’s attorney said they had not received the final medical examiner’s report. Gardner said he would review the discovery materials and provide a copy if it had not been provided.
Gardner also told the court he planned to meet with Woodcock’s family to discuss whether there is an avenue to “resolve this case” before a trial.
Bond’s next pretrial conference is scheduled for Oct. 12 in Barren Circuit Court.
