Each year, Kentucky Living magazine accepts nominations for what it deems the best-of-the-best in the Commonwealth. Categories range from restaurants and entertainment venues to people serving the state in various ways.
Kellie McKay of Glasgow, who is radio a personality for Nash 103.7 and the Shop Local Show host, began her radio career 23 years ago. She has been nominated in the Local Radio Host category.
“I’ve always had a love for music and radio ever since I was a little girl. My old-school, Sanyo boombox, and my pretend mic, playing radio DJ is where it all began,” she said.
It has not always been easy to pursue her dream.
“At one point I gave up on my radio dream, but the stars aligned and everything fell into place. I believe things happen for a reason to get us where we are today,” she said.
As far as the nomination goes, she is ecstatic and hoping for a win.
“I am so very grateful for God’s grace, my family, friends and this community,” McKay said.
Voting will open to the public on May 1, according to the Kentucky Living website. To vote, visit kentuckyliving.com. Winners will be announced in August, and published in the September issue of the magazine.
