The Barren County Trojans picked up another district win Thursday night. They rolled into Greenwood at 4-2 overall and 1-1 in district, and rolled out 5-2 and 2-1 after a 32-15 victory.
The Gators struck first in the game, but from there the Trojans were in control.
With 3:54 left in the first quarter, Corbin Wells scored on a three-yard run. Barren’s extra-point kick was blocked and the Gators led 7-6.
The Trojans’ defense forced a punt on Greenwood’s next possession. That kick was shanked, then bounced backward where the Trojans recovered the ball at the Gators’ five-yard line.
Cameron Gutierrez scored on a five-yard run. Barren was stopped on a two-point try, but led 12-7.
In the second quarter, the Trojans scored on a 10-yard run, but again failed to score on the two-point try. Barren led 18-7 with 7:07 left in the first half.
The Trojans added another touchdown before halftime with a 26-yard run by quarterback Briggs Harris. The TD run came on fourth and 14. Jacob Dooley added an extra point, and Barren led 25-7 at the break.
Barren added its final score with 4:19 to go in the game when Briggs Harris connected with Gutierrez on a five-yard pass. Dooley kicked the extra point and the Trojans led, 32-7.
Greenwood scored the final touchdown of the game with 1:31 left in the game, and added a two-point conversion to set the final score.
