A Barren County grand jury has returned an indictment against a local man charging him with murder.
James Edward Campbell, 46, has been accused of fatally shooting Roger L. Noland, 35, of Scottsville on Feb. 10 in a parking lot outside Campbell’s residence in Glasgow.
The indictment returned last week and released Tuesday also charges Campbell with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, “when, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, he wantonly engaged in conduct which created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury” to Felicia Nelson and a minor. Both of those individuals are believed to have been present in Noland’s vicinity when he was shot.
Noland was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The case was forwarded to a grand jury after a preliminary hearing in Barren District Court in February. Campbell was released from the Barren County Detention Center on March 29 on a $500,000 unsecured bond, according to the jail website.
Campbell’s arraignment in Barren Circuit Court is set for May 22.
