The Glasgow Scotties closed out their district football schedule with a 35-6 win at Edmonson County on Thursday night.
Glasgow had the ball for only 10 minutes on offense, but that’s all that was needed to improve to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in district action.
Edmonson County took the opening kick off, drove to near midfield and failed to convert on a fourth down. That gave the Scotties the ball on the Wildcats’ side of the field. They closed the drive with a 6-yard touchdown run by Jaylen Bradley with 8:14 left in the first period. Daniel Rodriguez added the extra-point kick.
Glasgow did not trail in the game.
With 1:38 left in the first quarter, the Scotties struck again. This time on a 43-yard pass from Landen Holley to Kaebran Jones. Rodriquez added another PAT and Glasgow led 14-0.
The Wildcats had the ball for several minutes before Bradley intercepted a pass deep in Glasgow territory. He returned it deep onto Edmonson’s side of the field, but a penalty wiped out part of the return.
Glasgow capitalized with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Holley to Jones. Another Rodriguez kick put the Scotties up 21-0 with 1:49 left in the first half.
It took the Scotties 15 seconds into the second half to add to their lead. Holley threw quickly out to Keyshawn Austin, who weaved his way through the defense 55 yards to the end zone. Rodriguez added his fourth PAT to set Glasgow ahead 28-0.
The Scotties added their final touchdown with 5:31 left in the third quarter to start a running clock on the game.
Kyle Sledge rushed 43 yards to the end zone on that drive, and Rodriguez added the PAT.
The Wildcats lone score came late in the fourth quarter when they returned a fumble for a touchdown while Glasgow’s junior varsity players were in the game.
Holley finished 5-for-7 passing for 168 yards and three touchdowns. Bryson Sexton was 4-for-4 passing for 29 yards.
Jones led Glasgow in receiving with three catches for 94 yards, while Austin caught two passes for 74 yards. Jayden Estes caught one pass for 18 yards.
Sledge rushed seven times for 81 yards and a touchdown, while Bradley had one rush for six yards and the touchdown.
Glasgow returns to the road next Friday, Oct. 30, for a non-district game at Franklin-Simpson. The kick off is set for 7 p.m.
