STAFF REPORT
Glasgow News 1
Glasgow City Council is scheduled to take up a second reading of a rezoning proposal for approximately 2.94 acres at 318 West Washington St. on Monday, according to the meeting agenda. The proposed ordinance would change the property’s zoning to a medium-density multifamily residential district.
The property is currently classified as R-2, Medium Density Residential District, and OP, Office & Professional District, according to the agenda. The proposal would change those classifications to R-4, Medium Density Multi-Family Residential District.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the second-floor council chambers at the Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building, 126 E. Public Square.
On Oct. 12, the council tabled the first-reading vote of the rezoning pending the outcome of a legal challenge to the rezoning. Since then, the lawsuit has been dismissed.
There is a proposal by the Hero Foundation to build low-income housing for seniors at the address. The property is owned by Barren County, and is the site of the former county health department.
New business before the council includes Municipal Order No. 2026-1185, which proposes appointing Samantha Gibson to the nonelected position of city clerk.
Two other proposed orders would continue board and commission service. Municipal Order No. 2026-1183 would appoint Rollin Underwood to another three-year term on the Water and Sewer Commission, while Municipal Order No. 2026-1184 would appoint R.P. Watson to another three-year term on the Code Enforcement Board.
Both proposed terms would expire Oct. 31, 2029, according to the agenda.
The agenda also notifies the council that Executive Order No. 2026-381 has been signed. That order updates Glasgow Police Department Policy 20.01, covering social networking and internet postings; the agenda does not describe the changes.
