Barren County sophomore Audrey Nuetzman ran away with the Class 3A, Region 2 girls’ meet title Saturday at Phil Moore Park.
Nuetzman posted a time of 19:13.4 in the five kilometer race in Bowling Green. She beat second place Eleanor Pendleton by nine seconds.
Teammate Adeline Coleman finished 12th with a time of 21:23.7. Barren did not field a team, so did not have a team score.
Greenwood won the team title with 30 points, while Bowling Green was second with 58, and South Warren was third with 69. Points are determined by the placement of each runner and those places are added together. Only the top five runners for each team is counted.
Nuetzman entered the regional race with the sixth-best time registered during the season, but beat her season mark by 38 seconds.
In the 3A, Region 2 boys’ meet, Tyler Lindley led the way for the Trojans with a time of 18:20.8.
Lindley, Neutzman and Coleman each qualified for their respective state meets. Both will be Saturday, Oct. 31, at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Barren County did field a boys’ team, which finished eighth at the regional. Greenwood won the boys’ title with 29 points, while Central Hardin finished second with 41 points, and South Warren was third with 103.
