A Hardyville man faces multiple charges, including at least one felony, after being arrested Monday evening by Kentucky State Police.
After his arrest for multiple other alleged offenses, staff members at the Barren County Detention Center found a glass pipe on the person of Dawson H. Neill, 22, during the booking process there around midnight Tuesday, and the pipe contained white residue, according to Neill’s citation.
He is charged with buying or possessing drug paraphernalia and first-degree promoting contraband in connection with that incident.
At approximately 8:18 p.m., KSP Trooper E. Smith observed a white Honda passenger van traveling eastbound on the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway going 95 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone, according to the citation. Once the trooper turned on “emergency equipment,” the Honda’s speed picked up to more than 100 mph on the parkway, and the pursuit continued from the parkway onto multiple side roads in the Glasgow vicinity, by which time the Barren County Sheriff’s Office was also involved, according to the citation.
“The vehicle stopped on Riverside Drive when it ran out of gas after a 30-minute pursuit …,” the narrative on the citation states. “The operator Mr. Dawson Neill had to be forcibly removed from the vehicle after numerous commands to exit it.”
Neill also had an active warrant for his arrest, according to the document.
His other charges from Monday include speeding 26 miles per hour or more over the speed limit; first-degree evading police (motor vehicle); driving on a DUI-suspended license, first offense (aggravated circumstances); reckless driving; operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a substance, first offense (aggravated circumstance); and resisting arrest, along with multiple traffic violations.
Neill remained lodged at the jail in lieu of a $7,500 cash bond Thursday morning.
