The Trojans were inhospitable to their guests Friday night, beating Graves County, 41-0, at home. Barren County marches into the second round of the Class 5A football playoffs with the win.
What was anticipated to be a tight game turned into a blow out — and running clock — win for the Trojans. Barren County took the opening kick off. Quarterback Briggs Harris capped the first drive with an 8-yard touchdown run with eight minutes left in the opening period. Jacob Dooley added the extra-point kick to give Barren a 7-0 lead.
That was also the score at the end of the first quarter.
The Trojans broke the game open in the second period.
With 7:22 left in the quarter, Briggs Harris ran 11 yards for a touchdown. Dooley’s kick made it 14-0.
The Trojans took a 21-0 lead with a 19-yard touchdown run by Jordan Harris. Dooley’s kick made it 21-0 with 2:35 left in the half.
Briggs Harris intercepted a pass on Graves County’s next drive, and Barren turned that into a touchdown.
Cameron Gutierrez capped that drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. Dooley added the PAT, and the Trojans led 28-0 with 17 seconds left in the first half.
Barren scored twice more in the second half. The first touchdown came on a 17-yard pass from Briggs Harris to Jackson Stephano. The second score was a 10-yard run by Baylor Browning. Dooley made one of two kicks to set the final 41-0 score.
Briggs Harris attempted only three passes in the game, and completed the one for a touchdown to Stephano.
Corbin Wells didn’t score, but carried the load on the ground. He rushed 15 times for 142 yards. Jaxon Pierce added 102 yards on eight carries, and Briggs Harris finished with 86 yards on eight runs.
Jordan Harris rushed three times for 45 yards, and Gutierrez finished with 26 yards on four carries.
