Barren County has wrapped up another movie production for 2023. “Kangaroo Kids” is the second movie filmed in the Barren River area this year. It took six weeks to complete.
Actor Branscombe Richmond has co-directed the production with his son Fairai Richmond, who was also an actor in the movie. Kathleen Kinmont, who worked with Branscombe Richmond on a 1990’s television program, “Renegade,” also helped with the movie.
“Sunn Stream,” a Hawaii-based production studio, works closely with the Southern Kentucky Film Commission to help bring attention to the Barren River area.
This will be the tenth movie Branscombe Richmond has worked on in Kentucky and, according to Glasgow-Barren County Convention and Tourist Commission, he already has plans for multiple other productions this year.
“Kangaroo Kids” production received almost $130,000 in incentives from the state to film in the Barren County area.
The movie is expected to be released on Thanksgiving Day on the “Sunn Stream Productions” streaming service.
