Barren County’s deputy judge-executive and solid waste coordinator is going to take on a new role, but he’s not leaving county employment and the change won’t occur right away.
“I’m going to be a school resource officer in the fall,” Beau Jones told Glasgow News 1 via phone on Monday. “It puts me on the same schedule as my wife; she’s a guidance counselor, so we can be off at the fall break, Christmas, spring break together.”
He’ll continue in his current capacities for now, and the position with the sheriff’s office is set to begin Aug. 1, he said.
“It’s no big scandal or anything,” he said.
Jones said he has law enforcement experience, having graduated from the police training academy in Richmond and then having been a patrolman for the Glasgow Police Department from around November 1998 through roughly January 2005, and then he went to work full time for the Army National Guard.
