“A Royal Christmas Surprise” is wrapping production in Glasgow, but the effect the movie has had on the community has been significant. With local businesses being particular points of interest for both actors and production assistants.

“Production has been great. The team has been in several times to ask me questions about the shop, and have been a delight to work with,” said Susan Simmons, owner of Trendy Me. “This has been great for business owners because we are getting shared on the production team’s social media, which has been great for exposure.”

Aaliyah Haskins, a freshman at Glasgow High School, has served as an extra on the film.
“It’s been a great experience. I saw it on the square and thought it would be fun to be a part of,” she said. “I’ve never done any acting in the past, so I’ve been a little nervous, but the people on the team have helped a lot.”

Tabitha Ellis has served as an extra since shooting started, and said that productions like this are a boon to Glasgow’s community,
“We’re not really on the map,” she said. “When I tell people where I live for the past 35 years, they have no clue. The attention that this movie has given to Glasgow just through their social media is invaluable.”

“All they had to do was put it up on Facebook and we came out to support the team,” Ellis continued. “I even tried selling one of the actors a house when he said he’d love to live here.”

Chevonne O’Shaughnessy the producer with American Cinema, has been busy making sure not only her production went smoothly, but also to leave a positive impact on Glasgow. She confirmed that the town’s name in the movie will be unchanged, so expect to see Glasgow, Ky. in the spotlight when “A Royal Christmas Surprise” is released.
