On Feb. 19, a day marked by school and government building closures, one hub of activity is at the Barren County Extension Office where members and alumni of the Barren County FFA will be offering a “catered meal…to thank [people] for their dedication” to the local chapter.

The event is scheduled to take place from 7-10 a.m. with catered breakfast food provided by Born and Raised, a Glasgow based catering company “sourced from [the owners] garden or local in Barren County” with current FFA members serving  the food during the three-hour meal.

According to Andy Joe Moore, a Barren County High School agricultural teacher, said that while the breakfast was primarily advertized to alumni they “wouldn’t turn away” any member of the public who showed up.

He said the breakfast offers their appreciation to the community and to kick off the National FFA Week celebration.

“The FFA members wanted to do a service event in order to give back to the adults and community who helped them so much throughout the year,” Moore said. “They are considering it an appreciation breakfast.”

“As a side note, anyone that’s graduated high school can join and participate as a Barren County FFA Alumni. No prior FFA membership as a student is required,” he added.

Moore said this event is free of charge.
