The Boys and Girls Club of Glasgow-Barren County is launching their summer festivities with a unique fundraiser that invites participants to “flock” their friends’ yards with flamingos.

After being inspired by flocking videos on social media, Franklin, who is the Unit Director of the club, introduced the concept to Barren County.

“For $10, you can buy a single flamingo, or get a dozen for $100,” announced Kenisha Franklin, the fundraiser’s organizer.

Once flocked, you have 24 hours to decide whether you want to pay $15 to flock someone else or spend $20 to have them removed.

To avoid being “flocked,” individuals can purchase “flocking insurance” with a $5 donation to the non-profit organization. Cash and checks are the only acceptable forms of payment which can be dropped in the drive-thru at the club.

The “Let’s Get Flocked!” campaign aims to raise funds that will benefit local youth by supporting the club’s summer camp programs, which runs from June 3 to August 16.

Anyone interested in arranging a surprise flock of plastic flamingos for someone is welcome to contact the club at (270) 629-3871.

Franklin suggests sharing your flocked photo online with hashtags like #I’veBeenFlocked or #Let’sGetFlocked.
