It was an emotional reunion as the roughly 300 soldiers from the National Guard 623rd regiment disembarked their passenger buses into the waiting throng of expectant families and friends.
As previously reported, the soldiers were deployed to Southwest Asia on Dec. 10, 2023 with the goal of “support[ing] the U.S. Army Central Command’s Operation Spartan Shield throughout Southwest Asia.”
Much in the same fashion in which they left Glasgow, they returned escorted and flanked by a retinue of Kentucky State Troopers with Glasgow Police Department cruisers.
