Bowling Green, Columbia or Elizabethtown.
These were the choices available to Barren Countians who needed to go to a regional office to renew their driver’s licenses, but now there is another office added to the list.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced that they had opened a new office in Leitchfield, making it regional office 35.
“Obtaining identification and driver’s licenses provides vital access to jobs, housing, bank accounts, voting and more,” said Transportation Secretary Jim Gray. “To make the credentialing process for Kentuckians easier and more efficient, we continue to expand the regional office network.”
The new Leitchfield location is at 1903 W. Elizabethtown Road “and will operate there until a permanent site is established.” The operation hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Currently, the cabinet states, there are no driving tests available at the location and should be scheduled through the Kentucky State Police.
“Over the last two years, we have established six new offices and there’s more on the way,” said Matt Cole, Department of Vehicle Regulations commissioner. “We intend to continue that growth to improve access and services for folks across the commonwealth.”
As a reminder, the REAL ID enforcement date has been set for May 7, 2025 and first-time applicants need to visit an office in-person. Also vision screenings for renewals will begin the first of January.
