Glasgow City Council will meet Monday evening with a short but varied agenda that includes a joint proclamation for Sexual Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, action related to the city’s new farmers market facility, and several equipment surplus resolutions.

The council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. April 27, inside council chambers on the second floor of the Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building.

Following approval of the agenda and minutes from the April 13 meeting, the council will hear a joint City of Glasgow and Barren County proclamation recognizing Sexual Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month. The presentation will be made by Mayor Henry Royse and Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Byrd, with special recognition from Hope Harbor, a non-profit out of Bowling Green which works with victims of assault.

Under new business, council members are expected to consider a resolution approving a lease with Sustainable Glasgow, Inc. related to the city’s new farmers market facility, which recently opened for business. The Bounty of the Barrens Farmers Market will begin holding its Saturday market at the new location.

Two additional resolutions involve the disposal of surplus equipment, one for the Glasgow Police Department and another for the Glasgow Fire Department.

The council will also consider the reappointment of Rondal Buford to the Code Enforcement Board for a three-year term set to expire April 30, 2029.

For council notification purposes, Royse has also signed Executive Order No. 2026-371, relating to various position titles and job descriptions. The order includes updates for positions such as street laborer, street truck driver/laborer, stormwater program manager, grant oversight manager, city administrator and transit manager.

Announcements listed on the agenda include the official opening of the new farmers market facility, an April 29 tree planting ceremony hosted by the Glasgow Police Department in honor of Wyatt Miller during National Donate Life Month, and the upcoming Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony on May 8 at the police department.

Additional announcements include registration openings for Glasgow Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp and the 2026 Adult Softball season.

The next regularly scheduled Glasgow City Council meeting will be held Monday, May 11, at 6 p.m.
