Democratic US Senate candidate Charles Booker is scheduled to visit Glasgow for a Juneteenth celebration at Twyman Park on June 19. Booker will be at Twyman Park from 10:30am-11:30am, prior to the start of the Boys & Girls Club Juneteenth celebration. The midday event is being promoted as a chance for local residents to meet the candidate ahead of the November general election. According to information submitted to GN1, the celebration at Twyman Park is set for Friday, June 19, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Juneteenth is a national holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
Booker’s stop in Glasgow will give community members an opportunity to hear from him and speak with him directly. The visit is a way for local voters to engage with a candidate who would represent them in the US Senate if elected. Booker won the Democratic US Senate primary in May, securing his party’s nomination for the fall campaign. He is expected to face Republican US Senate candidate Andy Barr in the November general election.
The race between Booker and Barr is for the US Senate seat currently held by Senator Mitch McConnell. McConnell is retiring from the office, opening up a high-profile contest for his longtime seat. The celebration at Twyman Park will include live singing, dance performances, spoken word and several guest speakers along with music from DJ Rizzi.
