The Louisville Orchestra is set to kick off its 2026 In Harmony Tour with a free outdoor concert on Glasgow’s Town Square this Thursday. Orchestra representative Elizabeth Eittiene said the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in front of Glasgow City Hall.v She encouraged families to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the concert in the newly improved grassy area on the east side of the square. Eittiene said this is the fourth straight year the orchestra has brought its summertime concert to Glasgow, and she described it as one of their favorite stops of the year because the community turns out in large numbers.

The concert in Glasgow is part of the Louisville Orchestra’s In Harmony Tour, a statewide outreach program that brings free orchestral performances to communities across Kentucky. The tour has been supported in recent years by a state appropriation that allows the orchestra to travel from “Paducah to Pikeville” and provide free programming, according to Eittiene. As of February 2026, tour organizers report the In Harmony program has delivered 235 total events, including 45 free orchestra concerts.

Officials say about 57,000 people have attended In Harmony events across the state over the past four years. Eittiene called the tour a unique program and said the orchestra is proud of what it has been able to accomplish in partnership with state leaders. The Glasgow concert will feature a lively mix of music intended to appeal to a wide audience. Eittiene highlighted selections by composer John Williams and encouraged residents to hear favorites such as the “Star Wars” theme performed live. She added that listening to this kind of film music with a full orchestra “hits different” in person and urged people to experience it on the square.

Glasgow’s concert will also showcase recent improvements to the east side of Town Square. With recent renovations they have created a smoother, grassy viewing area so concertgoers can set up chairs without worrying about tree roots or dirt patches. The Glasgow performance will be the first stop on this summer’s In Harmony Tour. The orchestra is scheduled to travel to Elizabethtown the following night and Shelbyville the night after that, according to Eittiene.

Due to the concert, traffic flow on the square will be halted starting at 11 a.m. The east side of the square will close at 11 a.m., followed by the north side at 3 p.m., and finally the south side closing at 5 p.m., according to Glasgow Police Department Public Information Officer Terry Flatt.
