Construction of the new Barren County Judicial Center lost three weeks after a section of concrete wall failed, but project officials say the overall timeline remains on track. The Barren County Project Development Board met Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Barren County Government Center to review the latest updates, including the wall issue and new costs.
During the meeting, officials reported that a 20 to 25-foot section of concrete wall blew out during construction. Crews then spent about three weeks remedying the damage. Dick Doty with Alliance told the board that the blown-out wall has been the only major construction hiccup so far. Doty said the setback is not expected to push back the listed final completion date for the judicial center.
Board members also handled financial business related to the project. They approved disbursement request number 32 in the amount of $377,131.61 for ongoing construction costs.
Adam Gillett with Integrity Architecture spoke about a small cost increase tied to the building’s electrical needs. Gillett said generator docks need to have more circuits than in the original design, leading to about a $600 increase. He also noted that revised door hardware specifications have changed, putting the design team in a position where they must obtain certain door frames quickly.
Project leaders did not report any other major problems with the build. They indicated that, despite the wall failure and extra work, the construction schedule for the new Barren County Judicial Center remains in place.
