A second McDonald’s restaurant is planned for Glasgow, according to local developer Larry Glass.
Glass said in a Facebook post that he has signed an agreement for a new McDonald’s on the south side of town at the corner of Trojan Trail and U.S. 31E South.
Glass wrote that it is his understanding the Glasgow location will be one of only 12 new state-of-the-art prototype McDonald’s stores planned across the country.
The announcement comes as McDonald’s recently unveiled its “McDonald’s > NEXT” strategy which calls for a new generation of restaurants featuring updated building designs, enhanced technology, improved hospitality and menu innovations. The company says future prototype locations are intended to create a faster, more consistent customer experience while incorporating new AI digital tools and operational improvements.
Glass said he believes the project will be a major addition to the south side of Glasgow and an example of the confidence national companies have in Glasgow’s future.
According to Glass, the goal is to begin site work in late July, pending the normal construction process. He said the plan is to have the property ready for turnover to McDonald’s by the end of October, if work stays on schedule.
The new restaurant would become Glasgow’s second McDonald’s location and Barren County’s third overall.
Local officials and McDonald’s corporate representatives have not yet released details about the restaurant’s design, opening date or hiring plans.
