House damaged by fire in Cave City

A house fire on Wilson Road in Cave City drew a multi-agency response Tuesday evening, but no injuries were reported.

The call came in around 5:41 p.m. for a fire at 400 Wilson Road, according to the 911 activity report. Cave City Fire Chief Kevin Jandt said firefighters arrived about five minutes after the initial call and found the home’s attic fully involved. Jandt said the cause of the fire remains officially undetermined. However, it appears the fire may have been sparked by a lightning strike, according to the chief.

Fire crews from Park City, Hiseville and Glasgow also responded to assist Cave City firefighters at the scene. Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Services was dispatched as well as a precaution.

Neighbors and friends of the family stepped in to help salvage belongings from inside the house after crews worked to bring the flames under control, Jandt said.

Firefighters remained on scene for several hours. The scene was cleared at around 9:30 p.m., according to Jandt. The full extent of the damage to the home has not been released. No injuries were reported in connection with the fire.
