The Glasgow Police Department is warning the public of an ongoing scam.
Scammers are calling victims and claiming that a family member or friend has been jailed, according to a social media post from the department. The scammers tell victims that they need to send money via gift cards or wire money.
The police department posted that the scammers are “spoofing” the Barren County Detention Center’s phone number.
Those who receive these calls should not provide financial and personal information over the phone and should not send money.
