Glasgow school board clears full slate of contracts, trips and handbook updates

The Glasgow Board of Education approved every motion on its operational and student services agenda during its July 13, 2026, meeting at the CO2 board room in the former South Green Elementary library.

Board members began by approving the minutes from the June 8 regular meeting and the June 24 special called meeting. The board also approved payment of claims, the June 2026 monthly financial report and the superintendent’s monthly timesheet.

Operational actions included approval of an invoice for legal services by the board attorney and authorization for trips and fundraisers. Members authorized the superintendent and transportation director to approve transportation for qualifying athletic or school events when teams or clubs advance to a higher level of competition before the next scheduled board meeting. They also approved a trip for the HES Kids’ Club summer program to the Nashville Zoo on June 26 and travel for the Glasgow High School girls’ soccer team to the Bluegrass State Games tournament in Lexington from July 24 to July 26.

All submitted fundraisers were approved. The board conducted its quarterly mileage reimbursement rate review for July 1 through Sept. 30, 2026, and approved a rate of 43 cents per mile to match the state mileage reimbursement rate. Members approved a contracting agreement for services for students with speech and language impairments.

They also approved a memorandum of agreement between Glasgow Independent Schools and Community Action of Southern Kentucky for Head Start services from July 1, 2026, through July 30, 2027. Other agreements included a memorandum of understanding with Murray State University and a memorandum of agreement with the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Education and Labor Cabinet.

The board voted to keep the M & M Rehab Physical Therapy contract in place for the 2026-27 school year to serve exceptional children. A 2026-27 physical therapy and sports medicine contract with TJ Samson Community Hospital was approved, along with a contract with Willow Oaks Golf Club for the 2026 golf season.

Under student services actions, the board approved the 2026-27 employee handbook and a Pyramid Model coaching services contract. Members also approved revisions to the human resources director job description. The board accepted a $500 donation to Glasgow High School football.
