Kentucky State Police say they will operate traffic safety checkpoints throughout August in Barren County.
The enforcement effort will cover several major highways and secondary routes across the county.
Checkpoints on US 31W are planned near the Edmonson County line and the Hart County line, as well as at the intersection of US 31W and Kentucky 255, according to the list provided. US 31E is also included, with a checkpoint listed at Jack Turner Road. On US 68, state police say a checkpoint is planned at Kentucky 255 in the Bon Ayr area.
Several intersections along Kentucky 70 are part of the enforcement plan. Those locations include Kentucky 70 at Kentucky 314, Kentucky 70 at Kentucky 255, and Kentucky 70 at Kentucky 740 near Hiseville.
Additional Barren County checkpoint sites are listed on Kentucky 1846 at Old Lexington Road. As well as Kentucky 249 about one-half mile south of the Glasgow city limits and on Kentucky 249 at the Monroe County line.
State police often use traffic safety checkpoints to check for seat belt use, impaired driving and other violations.
Drivers traveling in Barren County during August are encouraged to slow down, buckle up and be prepared to stop when approaching these areas.
