The Mammoth Cave National Park Association marked a milestone with its 101st annual meeting. The group recently gathered at The Lodge at Mammoth Cave National Park.
Association President Bobby Bunnell said the meeting was well attended, with more than 40 people, which included several new members joining the nonprofit.
Members reviewed a slate of ongoing projects that highlight the association’s history and its support for the park, Bunnell said. Those efforts include work on a roadside historical marker commemorating the association’s role in Mammoth Cave’s story.
The group is also working on a reprint of “A World Wonder Saved,” a publication that highlights the association’s heritage and contributions.
In addition, the association continues to provide funding support for Mammoth Cave National Park’s Environmental Education Program, which helps connect visitors and students with the park’s unique natural resources.
Special presentations at the meeting featured park staff sharing updates on current park activities and initiatives.
Mark Lord, representing Congressman Brett Guthrie’s 2nd Congressional District office, delivered a congressional reading honoring the association’s 100th anniversary.
Luke Jean of Cave City Distilling Company presented a special edition Mammoth Cave Bourbon Whiskey, also marking the association’s 100th anniversary.
During the business portion of the meeting, members elected officers to lead the organization in the coming year.
The Mammoth Cave National Park Association is recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that supports projects and programs benefiting the park.
On behalf of the association, Bunnell is encouraging community members to support these efforts as the group continues to back environmental education and other initiatives at Mammoth Cave National Park.
