Man injured when struck in crosswalk on S. L. Rogers Wells

A man was injured Thursday afternoon after he was struck by a vehicle on S. L. Rogers Wells Blvd.

Robert Fitzgerald was crossing the boulevard near Hardee’s in the crosswalk when he was struck by a truck turning from Grandview Avenue onto Rogers Wells, according to a Glasgow Police Department press release.

The “preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Justin Matthews was attempting to make a left hand turn onto S. L. Rogers Wells Boulevard from Grandview Avenue and struck a male subject that
was walking in the crosswalk,” the press release stated.

Fitzgerald was transported by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Services to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition was not provided in the press release.

The collision was investigated by Glasgow police officer Patrick Wade. He was assisted at the scene by EMS and the Glasgow Fire Department.
